<h3>The Poetry Book Club led by Doug Knowlton. Meets online via Zoom. The poetry book club is discussing works of local published poets beginning in August 2021. This month’s selection is MaryKatherine Wainwright’s A Taste of Salt. </h3><h3>A fee of $19 is required for participation. This includes a copy of A Taste of Salt and the Zoom book club meeting. The book can be picked up curbside or in the store (We will send you an email when the book is ready for pickup). ). There is an additional fee of $5.50 to have the book shipped. All tickets include a copy of the book, tax, fees and the virtual event.</h3><h3>Complete the registration and we will get you the book before the meeting. The Zoom link will be sent prior to the book club meeting. After you have reserved your place, look for a confirmation via email.</h3>About A Taste of Salt:MaryKatherine Wainwright&#x27;s poems, like the taste of salt, are at once familiar and strange. They collect themselves like photographs in a family album. Inside this poetry collection are snapshots of travel adventures from New York to Italy, France, and Spain yet always returning to family memories of growing up in North Florida. A feminine presence presides over these poems-a woman listening to her own life and the lives of those she meets along the way, confronting the palpable presence of absence, memory and loss, and the sugar and salt of our deepest longings.MaryKatherine Wainwright: MaryKatherine Wainwright is a writer and retired professor of American literature. Her poetry and prose have been published in many books and literary journals, including Kalliope, Phoebe, Solemente en San Miguel II, and The Harlem Renaissance: Revaluations. Published in 2018, A Taste of Salt: Poems is her first collection of poetry. En Route: Essays was published in 2019. Wainwright earned a Ph.D. in American Studies at Purdue University, and taught literature and writing for over thirty years in major U.S. colleges and universities, including the State College of Florida. She has received numerous fellowships and awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Florida Humanities Council, and the McKnight Foundation for Higher Education, among others.
