Gov. Andy Beshear invites you to attend the premiere of this new film documenting the aftermath of the 2022 floods in Eastern Kentucky.

RISING is a powerful documentary chronicling the catastrophic 2022 floods in Eastern Kentucky and the extraordinary resilience of the communities affected. The film captures the devastation wrought by the floods, which claimed 45 lives and destroyed homes that had stood for generations.In the aftermath, Gov. Andy Beshear, alongside local officials and organizations, spearheaded a revolutionary initiative: constructing "high-ground communities" on elevated land outside flood zones. These communities provide flood survivors with modern, energy-efficient homes— safe from future flooding.Through personal stories and on-the-ground footage, RISING illustrates how Eastern Kentucky is not only rebuilding but reimagining its future in the face of adversity.

The evening begins at 5:00 PM with a reception, hosted by Team Kentucky and the Mountain Arts Center. Guests will enjoy signature drinks, live music, and a front-row seat as the stars of Rising and leaders in Kentucky's rebuilding efforts step into the spotlight to greet the media.
