The Czech Center New York actively promotes Czechia by showcasing Czech culture, innovations and creativity in the US. Our program includes concerts, screenings, exhibitions, panel discussions, and other events dedicated to a vast range of areas from visual and performing arts, film, literature, and music to architecture, design, fashion, and innovations. In addition to hosting our own events, we support and collaborate with other groups dedicated to intercultural initiatives in New York and beyond.The Event organizer has the right to refuse the attendees entrance to the venue despite previous registration due to capacity and security measures. Join us for a guided tour of <a href="https://new-york.czechcentres.cz/en/program/stanice-pozastavene-predpovedi" title="https://new-york.czechcentres.cz/en/program/stanice-pozastavene-predpovedi" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Station for Paused Forecasting</a>, our new exhibition, led by curator Amálie Bulandrová. While the tours take place in the Czech Center Gallery, a selection of art films from the exhibition will be screened in the Czech Center Cinema on the ground-floor.

​Amálie Bulandrová is a theatre scholar, art historian, and occasional curator. Together with Dominik Lang and Kateřina Žák Konvalinová, she co-heads the Studio of Fine Arts I at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. She also co-organizes its Centre for Arts and Ecology, known as Kafkárna. A PhD candidate at Masaryk University, her research focuses on contemporary scenography and visual dramaturgy.

Station for Paused Forecasting presents recent works by seventeen emerging artists from the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague (UMPRUM). The exhibition reflects on the inevitable crossing of the threshold between study and practice—when the closure of one chapter collides with uncertain tomorrows. Before we are cast into the future, can we press pause on the last solid contours of the present and revise them?Conceived as a fictional station for forecasting, the exhibition oscillates between apocalyptic rupture and the possibility of renewal. Works probe emotional and societal terrains through sculpture, video, textile, painting—an array of mediums reflecting the multimodality of personal interpretation.
