No more trying to be mindful alone.The Hive exists to develop creative, compassionate, and mindfully-engaged citizens in the Cincinnati region through small group classes and workshops. We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Your partnership helps make this nonprofit possible.(As a social enterprise, the Hive shares our story with photos of classes and events. Without collective change, no change matters.</em>&quot; -rev. angel Kyodo williams</p><p>C2C exists to free organizations and individuals from internal addictions to racism in order to co-create the common good. While most anti-racism work is done as either head learning (book clubs and goals) or direct action (protests, organizing, letter writing, etc.), this 6 week Hive course brings the head and body together with the heart, cultivating mindfulness-based intelligence for inner freedom enabling people and communities to risk changing the systems that we steward. C2C was born from the friendship of Daniel Hughes and Troy Bronsink, black and white pastors respectively, seeking to cultivate brave space as the city of Cincinnati worked through the pain and disorientation of the murder of an unarmed black man, Sam Dubose, by white police officer, Ray Tensing. La Shanda Sugg, LPC is a therapist and consultant. Her passion and calling to help others gain insight into their pasts to positively inform their futures motivated her to found Labors of Love Counseling and Consulting, LLC. </p><p>The Courage to Connect six week approach is rooted in three texts: the participants own experiences in their body, the stories participants have come to tell themselves about the world as it is, and the body of the shared group of the class as we collectively experience awareness of and nonattachment to our triggers and our trauma. We will observe our “ouches” and “ahs,” and unexamined biases, while interacting with the wisdom of contemporary black leaders like Resma Menekem, Sandra Magee, angel Kyoto williams, and Ibram X Kendi, as well as white teachers like Robin DiAngelo and contemplative teachers from various times and traditions.</p><p>Courage to Connect is a course designed to facilitate brave space for dialogue (as opposed to debate), and mindful awareness. Like-mindedness can damage community, but this group is designed to emphasize how shared intention or “like-heartedness” can hold together a room of people with very different experiences and convictions. We seek to amplify the voices of those who aren’t often heard in the mainstream, without asking the most vulnerable in our gathering to bear the weight of the conversations.</p><p>This is an essential class for anyone seeking to understand the Hive’s commitment to the intersection of contemplation and action.</p><p>A perfect class for those who’ve read a lot of books and are asking “what’s next?” as well as those who’ve come aware of the suffering that racism is still bringing in our American context and asking “what can be done?” If you are a person of color registering for this course we encourage you to reach out to your facilitator, La Shanda Sugg, to discuss any concerns or expectations. In addition, We ask anyone who is feeling sick or has a temperature to not attend classes until they are recovered. We will closely follow CDC guidelines in regards to hot spots and may require everyone to mask in certain instances of high transmission rates.</h3><h3>The intent is to live out a core value of the Hive, which is the co-creation of the common good. We trust that if you are in community with us that you will join this shared intention. We also offer a number of online alternatives if that better meets your needs. </h3>
