Presa Canyon day-long backcountry hike exploring remote areas of Seminole/Presa canyons.

Presa Canyon Hike

Explore more of the park’s rock art sites in remote areas of Seminole and Presa canyons. We lead this day-long backcountry hike October through March. Hike fee is $30 per person. Minimum age: no children under 13.

Tour Description: This a very strenuous, all day hike through canyon bottoms that includes navigating through thick brush and over boulders. See rock art sites such as VV75 and Black Cave.

Tour Difficulty: Very Strenuous, approximately 8 mile hike

Tour Duration: All day, 8 1/2 hours

Tour Reminders: There are no bathroom facilities. Participants must be prepared to use the restroom outdoors. Pack out all trash. The tour is in a remote area and in case of an emergency, medical response time can take hours.

What to Bring and Wear:

– Wear clothing appropriate to the weather and terrain. Long sleeve shirts and long pants are helpful protection from the sun and desert plants / cactus.

– Wear a wide-brimmed hat and use sunscreen.

– Closed toed footwear with good traction is required.

– A small backpack or fanny pack for your gear, water, and food.

– Bring plenty of water and drink frequently. Hydrate before the tour and bring full water bottles – 2 quarts minimum. You will not be allowed to participate without an adequate water supply. (Propel electrolyte packets can help a lot)

– Bring lunch/snacks that do not require refrigeration.

– Walking sticks are helpful. Rubber tips are recommended.
