Spencer Peppet (she/her), Micaela Adams (he/him), and Andrea Gutmann Fuentes (she/her) met in high school in Cincinnati and began the first iteration of The Ophelias in 2015. Since then, they have released Creature Native (2015), signed to Joyful Noise Recordings, released Almost (2018) to critical acclaim, toured across the country, underwent a slight lineup change when they introduced Jo Shaffer (they/them) as their new bassist, and welcomed changes in sound, gender, lineup, and location. With a third LP on the way, The Ophelias are evolving and maturing together. PRETTY BITTER (fka NAH.)Washington, DChttps://nah-musics.bandcamp.com/We're 5 friends from the Washington DC area making indie rock, dreamgaze, hippie punk, or whatever you hear when you’re listening to us. Nah. began in 2015 with an almost entirely different cast of humans as the brainchild of bassist Brendan Ra Tyler, the intention behind it being a way to communicate better about mental health and healing, a purpose that has held strong for 3 years. As a group we strive to create more inclusive, loving, and safe spaces for anyone who might stumble upon one of our shows. Spaceship Sound Studios was started in 2018 in the Pretty Bitter band home by drummer Stephen Rodriguez as an effort to help boost the DIY community in DC and get more local music that they believe in on streaming services, or just out into the world for more people to hear. We're all about music, community, and love. You’re welcome any time.CARMEN CANEDOWashington, DChttps://carmencanedo.bandcamp.com/Pulling from a wide array of inspiration, Carmen Canedo creates a personal style that has a quiet, steady way of embracing the listener—drawing heavily from her upbringing in Nashville’s music scene, education in jazz guitar, and Bolivian music.   After graduating high school in 2017, Canedo took a year off to travel and tend to herself. The time off resulted in the writing of Canedo’s first record, Wheels Are Turning. The following year, after enrolling in Smith College, she began touring with Nashville band, Dream Wave.   Following a break from music, Carmen wrote “Nothing Less Nothing More” in one sitting, deciding then to finish her second record, Know It All. It centers around the onset of nostalgia, nervousness, heartbreak, and first loves.
