PRE-SHOW FERRY OPTION:To make this journey to the Agger Fish Building fun and easy, DOWN TO EARTH is offering an exciting pre-show performance at the Wall Street pier that includes an escorted ride on the NYC ferry to the Agger Fish Building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Once there, you will see three great performances: HIT OUT, CLASS DISMISSED, and FLEXN, PAINTN, SPEAKN. If interested, you'll need to <a href="https://www.ferry.nyc/ticketing-info/" title="https://www.ferry.nyc/ticketing-info/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">purchase a ticket for the ferry</a>. You can do so on the NYC ferry app or in person at the Wall Street pier!PLEASE NOTE: We'll be taking the 11:39 boat (this is the Astoria line) with your fearless guide--Michael Mullen--leading the way! Arrive 20 minutes early so we can celebrate together before sailing away! PERFORMANCES:HIT OUT is a choreographic and musical project on skipping rope used as a percussive element to manifest embodied rhythms. The jumpers perform a rhythmic and at the same time choreographic score in which single-under, side-swing and double-under harmonize in a true HIT. The practice of training is elevated to performative action: the hammering succession of rope strokes is an echo of rebellion against those forces that would have us lying motionless on the ground with our eyes closed. In Class Dismissed, your favorite college professor catalogs the un-written work of the notorious "Esteemed Author." One part lecture / two parts fever dream, Dr. Watson takes us on a roller-coaster of increasingly wild tangents into his surreal obsession with the nature of knowledge, fanaticism, and human connection. This is dark buffoonery that redefines the absurd for the contemporary moment. FLEXN, PAINTN, SPEAKN: "Get-low, gliding, bone-breaking, connecting, pauzin, waving: Even the language of flexing, a street-dance style born in Jamaica and raised in the Brooklyn neighborhood of East New York, pops with energy." Quamaine Daniels and Reggie Gray's iconic FLEXX dancing collective meshes movement, music, and words while painting a canvas using dance shoes as urban street brushes. Followed by a battle and music by FLEXN DJ.
