The LARU BEYA COLLECTIVE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the underrepresented youth of the Far Rockaways through surfing, and cultivating an inclusive and diverse community within the lineup. Our adult intro classes are for BIPOC individuals who do not have the financial resources for lessons offered at other schools, and are interested in learning basic board skills, safety measures and surfing etiquette. All necessary equipment will be provided.After signing up, please fill out <a href="https://www.larubeyacollective.com/s/Laru-Beya-Collective-Inc-Liability-Waiver-and-Release.pdf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">our liability waiver and release form</a>. Bring the signed liability waiver and release form day of class.We started our [adult surf] lessons to encourage more adults in the BIPOC community to learn how to surf. There are numerous surf schools in Rockaway Beach, but many adults in the BIPOC community have expressed their feelings of not belonging in those spaces. While we welcome everyone to join our [adult surf] lessons, we wanted to share why we started these lessons and who they’re intended for. Thank you for supporting our efforts to create a safe space for adults who identify as BIPOC!
