Jan Société: Czech Fashion Takes Manhattan [soirée]

The Czech Center New York actively promotes Czechia by showcasing Czech culture, innovations and creativity in the US. Our program includes concerts, screenings, exhibitions, panel discussions, and other events dedicated to a vast range of areas from visual and performing arts, film, literature, and music to architecture, design, fashion, and innovations. In addition to hosting our own events, we support and collaborate with other groups dedicated to intercultural initiatives in New York and beyond.The Event organizer has the right to refuse the attendees entrance to the venue despite previous registration due to capacity and security measures. A special evening dedicated to contemporary Czech fashion design presenting the latest collection by Jan Société.

Bohemian National Hall

On the rooftop of the Bohemian National Hall, the brand <a href="https://jansociete.com/" title="https://jansociete.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jan Société</a> will present its latest collection and offer a personal meeting with Jan Černý, a rising star of Czech fashion design.The program will include a rooftop drinks party, connecting New York’s creatives and notable personalities from various fields. The highlight of the evening will be a fashion presentation, during which models will showcase selected pieces from the current collection.The event will be followed by an exhibition inside the <a href="https://new-york.czechcentres.cz/en/" title="https://new-york.czechcentres.cz/en/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Czech Center New York</a>, displaying models from the latest collection alongside original uniforms designed for the Olympic team and the World Expo. The exhibition will also feature the exceptional glass dress created by Jan Černý for Aňa Geislerová on the occasion of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival opening.

Jan Černý is a Czech fashion designer and the founder of <a href="https://jansociete.com/" title="https://jansociete.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jan Société</a>, a brand specializing in contemporary menswear and genderless fashion. Despite his young age, he has already achieved remarkable success. He completed an internship under the late designer Virgil Abloh at the Louis Vuitton atelier in Paris, served as creative director of the Czech brand Kara, was featured in Forbes 30 Under 30, dresses personalities such as Barbora Strýcová, Calin, and Ben Cristovao, and is part of the new generation of Czech cultural figures shaping the style of young audiences.In 2024, he designed the Olympic opening ceremony collection for Czech athletes, which was recognized by Time magazine as one of the three best collections in the world due to its modern aesthetic and innovative approach. He also designed a collection for the Czech Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka. In March 2025, he received two major awards: Fashion Designer of the Year 2024 and Grand Designer of the Year 2024, becoming the absolute winner of the Czech Grand Design Awards, the most prestigious design honors in the Czech Republic.
