Grades 4 - Algebra II

This training series focuses on core mathematical concepts and their application, designed for a higher-level audience.

Dates & Topics:

September 24: From Data & Measurement to Statistics & Probability.

Objectives include defining and exploring mathematical identity and its impact on students' experiences, agency, and success.

October 27: From Numbers and Base Ten to The Number System, and From Operations & Algebraic Thinking to Expressions & Equations.

Objectives include defining analytical thinking in mathematics, exploring the NCTM's Mathematics Teaching Framework, and applying learning to High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM).

December 8: From Operations & Algebraic Thinking to Expressions & Equations.

Objectives include Unpacking what a meaningful math experience looks, sounds, and feels like.

Participants will also explore the relationship between algorithms and deepening mathematical understanding.

January 26: From Fractions to Ratios & Proportions.

Objectives include exploring the CPA (Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract) Continuum and "just-in-time" supports to create access points for grade-level learning.

February 23: Extending to Functions.

Objectives include investigating the role of discourse in the math classroom and its impact on analytical thinking.
