Global Bioethics Initiative invites you to join us for a virtual screening of The Wisdom of Trauma, a film featuring renowned trauma expert Dr. Gabor Mate. About the film, from directors Zaya and Maurizio… “Trauma is the invisible force that shapes our lives. It shapes the way we live, the way we love, and the way we make sense of the world. It is the root of our deepest wounds. Dr. Maté gives us a new vision: a trauma-informed society in which parents, teachers, physicians, policy-makers and legal personnel are not concerned with fixing behaviors, making diagnoses, suppressing symptoms, and judging, but see instead to understand the sources from which troubling behaviors and diseases spring in the wounded human soul.”The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Mary Simmerling, cohost Grace Cochran, featuring Allan Ashby, Chaimaa Cheref, Cheyenne Hill, Carla Murray, Taryn Putina, and Indie Sozo. The panel represents a diverse group of trauma survivors, members of the BIPOPC and LGBTQ+ communities, child abuse and sexual assault survivors, as well as victims of trafficking, bullying, and other forms of violence &amp; discrimination.
