At Rooftop Films we believe film can be so much more than just watching a movie, so we curate unique events that combine great music, quality film, and some of the most beautiful locations that New York has to offer. By thinking beyond the screen, we help to bring communities together and change the way that film, music, art, and ideas interact with the city around us.Rooftop Films’ mission is to engage and inspire diverse communities by showing movies in outdoor locations, supporting the production of new independent films, helping local organizations to produce screenings and events, and renting equipment at low-cost to artists and nonprofits. Rooftop Films is more than a film festival. We are a community. We are a collective collaboration between filmmakers and festivals; between audience members and artists; between venues and neighborhoods. Our goal is to nurture a vibrant independent filmmaking and film-going community not only by exhibiting the work of emerging filmmakers, but also by providing essential support systems for those who otherwise have none.

Her character-driven exposé, Bring Your Own Brigade, also answers a question humanity can no longer afford to ignore: Why are catastrophic wildfires increasing in number and severity around the world, and can anything be done to lessen the staggering death and destruction they cause? Drawing on hundreds of hours of astonishing wildfire footage and featuring interviews with survivors, firefighters and scientists, the film reveals that short of solving global warming there are numerous, often simple steps that can be taken to not only mitigate the catastrophic devastation caused by wildfires, but restore health and balance to woodlands that have been mismanaged for far too long. Before your arrival, we will ask you to make sure you can answer “no” to all of the CDC’s COVID-19 safety screening questions. Upon arrival we will do a mandatory temperature check, unless you prefer to provide proof of vaccination. Masks will be required while interacting with event staff. Chairs will not be provided, but we suggest bringing picnic blankets for seating! Where will the screening take place?The entrance to the screening will be at the Myrtle Avenue and N Portland Ave entrance to Fort Greene Park. Seating will be on the lawn directly in front of this entrance, with check-in right at the gate to the lawn. Can I bring food and drinks?No alcoholic beverages are allowed. Feel free to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages! Food and drink must be consumed while you are sitting in your designated area.I’m vaccinated, do I need to wear a mask?All attendees and staff are required to wear a mask while interacting. You will also be reminded of the mandatory safety measures via email and on screen.What COVID-19 Measures Have Been Taken?Our guests and our team’s safety is our primary concern. Our COVID-19 safety measures include social distancing for both guests and staff, regular cleaning of all facilities, and contact-free check-in. All attendees and staff are required to wear a mask while interacting. You will also be reminded of the mandatory safety measures via email and on-screen. You may sit in your pod with up to 4 people, but we ask that you remain socially distanced from anyone not in the group you have chosen to sit with.How accessible is this venue? The lawn where the film will take place is up a steep incline coming from all directions. Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? Rooftop Films are open to all ages. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
