Pen Palindrome + Jose SanchezMonday, August 9th 20217pm seating | 7:30pm showDC indie rockers Pen Palindrome bring their "ambient rock you can take home to meet your family" to Comet Ping Pong's Spring Outdoor Music Series.Beginning July 19th and continuing into August, Comet will present a series of 7:00 pm concerts in the Comet Ping Pong parking lot for a limited audience of pre-reserved, seated, dine-in guests. The Summer schedule features artists ranging from jazz to bluegrass to indie rock and each performance will feature a comedy opening act to be announced.  Tickets will be sold through Eventbrite - by purchasing a table which seats up to 2, 4 or 8 guests per table.  There will be a 2 drink minimum for all attendees, food and drinks will be available to purchase from Comet Ping Pong, Buck's Fishing &amp; Camping and Muchas Gracias.  Ticket prices:8 top table: $804 top table: $402 top table: $20In the event of rain, this concert will be rescheduled for Tuesday, August 10th. Refunds will be offered only if both dates are rained out.***Pen Palindromehttp://penpalindrome.bandcamp.comPen Palindrome is the solo project of Virginia-native, Ava Mirzadegan. Her songs function as a sort of roadmap for finding joy while experiencing grief and anxiety. She creates folk-tinged indie rock that is earnest and a little melancholic. But if you asked her, she’d call it “ambient rock you can take home to meet your family.” In March 2019, she released a collection of demos entitled Dilettante Ball. The songs were recorded in various rooms of her home onto a zoom recorder, and dubbed onto home-made cassette tapes. The songs acted as exercises in battling writer’s block. With lyrics that were mostly ad-libbed in a single sitting, the songs attempt to verbalize the unadulterated subconscious emotions of love, distance, and longing. This June, the collection was re-released through Wisconsin-based tape label, Painted Blonde.
