Featuring Charlotte Gulezian, Katherine Searcy, Anessa Johnson, Steve MadarTalkback at 7:30PM EDT moderated by local poet, Jocelyn Barnes on The Vagrancy's Youtube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/user/TheVagrancyTheatreCoSynopsis: After a ten-year estrangement, Billie and Cameron are far from their childhood fantasies of becoming a country music sister duo, The Donkey Skin Sisters. We meet them at a prison where Billie is on death row for gunning down a family while high on a cocktail of drugs. Cameron, now a professor in musical history, comes to visitations trying to understand how they ended up in two very different places. This musical reinvents country classics to chronicle the two sisters’ journey through coping and drowning with sexual trauma in their childhood. While Billie is forced to reckon with her crimes, both sisters are left with harrowing questions: Where does the buck stop? Who is truly guilty? How does someone seek redemption when bearing generations of unaccountability? They come to remember what they knew as children: their only salvation can be found in the music. About BLOSSOMING: a new play reading seriesThe Vagrancy annually selects four playwrights with diverse perspectives to join their playwrights' group. Beginning each fall, the writers meet regularly as they craft their plays. The Vagrancy hosts two development workshops wherein the plays are explored with the playwright, actors, and a director in a rehearsal setting. This year's theme is "History Repeats Itself."BLOSSOMING is the first public reading of these four original plays which have been rehearsed, recorded and edited into a virtual staged reading presentation. Be inspired, have a glass of wine, and help the plays' development along with post-reading audience and artist talkbacks via Youtube Live’s chat option.After reserving a ticket, you will receive a link to the pre-recorded play 15 minutes before the performance time. The link to the play will expire after 7 days.This activity is supported by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, administered by LOWELL AREA ARTS COUNCILS INC, Puffin Foundation West, LTD and Meijer.
