At Rooftop Films we believe film can be so much more than just watching a movie, so we curate unique events that combine great music, quality film, and some of the most beautiful locations that New York has to offer. By thinking beyond the screen, we help to bring communities together and change the way that film, music, art, and ideas interact with the city around us.Rooftop Films’ mission is to engage and inspire diverse communities by showing movies in outdoor locations, supporting the production of new independent films, helping local organizations to produce screenings and events, and renting equipment at low-cost to artists and nonprofits. Rooftop Films is more than a film festival. We are a community. We are a collective collaboration between filmmakers and festivals; between audience members and artists; between venues and neighborhoods. Our goal is to nurture a vibrant independent filmmaking and film-going community not only by exhibiting the work of emerging filmmakers, but also by providing essential support systems for those who otherwise have none.

Before your arrival, we will ask you to make sure you can answer “no” to all of the CDC’s COVID-19 safety screening questions. Upon arrival, we will be checking proof of vaccination. Masks will be required while interacting with event staff. Chairs will be provided.Can I bring food and drinks?No alcoholic beverages are allowed. Feel free to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages! Food and drink must be consumed while you are sitting in your designated area.I’m vaccinated, do I need to wear a mask?All attendees and staff are required to wear a mask when entering the venue. You will also be reminded of the mandatory safety measures via email and on screen.What COVID-19 Measures Have Been Taken?Our guests and our team’s safety is our primary concern. Our COVID-19 safety measures include social distancing for both guests and staff, regular cleaning of all facilities, and contact-free check-in. All attendees and staff are required to wear a mask while inside of the venue. You will also be reminded of the mandatory safety measures via email and on-screen. You may sit in your pod with up to 4 people, but we ask that you remain socially distanced from anyone not in the group you have chosen to sit with. Where will the screening take place within The Old American Can Factory? Check in will be through the entrance at 232 3rd Street, and the screening location will be on the roof of the building. Please contact us if someone in your party will need assistance getting to the location.How accessible is this venue?There will be a few flights of stairs to climb up to the roof. If you would like to attend this event but have an ADA need, we can provide a freight elevator. There is one step that will be unavoidable in stepping onto the roof. Our courtyard seating (available at select events) is entirely accessible.
