<h2>Health Literacy Learning Camp</h2><ul><li>April 29, 2026 - In Person; 4700 Bohannon Drive (102/103) Menlo Park, CA</li><li>August 12, 2026 - Virtual via Zoom</li></ul>

<h3>DESCRIPTION</h3>This learning camp is an introductory course about the basic principles of Health Literacy and the Teach-back method. Learners will have the opportunity to apply these principles to clinical situations in an interactive class.

<h3>OBJECTIVES</h3>By the end of this presentation, you will be able to:<ul><li>Identify patients and family’s education needs.</li><li>Assess patients and their family’s readiness to learn.</li><li>Find, access, and navigate patient education resources.</li><li>Evaluate the effectiveness of patient and family education teaching.</li><li>Recognize the basic principles of health literacy.</li><li>Advocate for health literacy and teach back as key-elements of patient safety and care.</li></ul>

<h3>CONTINUING EDUCATION</h3>This continuing education (CE) course is offered through Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford by the Center for Professional Excellence and Inquiry (CPEI). Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), Provider Number 9713.Center for Professional Excellence and Inquiry is accredited as provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).<ul><li>Number of BRN Contact Hours: 3.2 hours</li><li>Number of ANCC Contact Hours: 3.75 hours</li></ul>Nurses:<ul><li>While CA BRN credits are accepted for your RN license renewal, ANCC credits may only apply to specific certifications. To ensure your credits are valid, please verify with your state board or accrediting body whether they accept ANCC-approved continuing education.</li></ul>Other Medical Professionals:<ul><li>Contact your professional board to determine if they accept continuing education (CE) credits approved by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).</li></ul>Earning CE Credits<ul><li>To be eligible for Continuing Education (CE) credits, participants are required to attend the entire course or event and complete the course evaluation. Partial credit cannot be granted for late arrivals or early departures.</li></ul>Certificate Issuance and Record Keeping<ul><li>CE certificates will be distributed within 30 days of course completion. Participants are responsible for maintaining their personal records of accrued CE documentation. Certificates must be retained for four years following the course date and are valid for a single use toward registered nurse license renewal.</li></ul>

<h3>TARGET AUDIENCE</h3><ul><li>Clinical/Registered Nurses</li><li>Anyone who would like to learn more about the basic principles of Health Literacy and the Teach-back method.</li></ul>

<h3>REGISTRATION and FEES</h3><ul><li>Stanford Children's Employees = $50 (plus admin fees)</li><li>General Admission = $60 (plus admin fees)</li></ul>For Stanford Children's Health Employees:<ul><li>For employment verification, please register using your Stanford work email and employee ID number.</li><li>The Center for Professional Excellence and Inquiry (CPE&amp;I) accepts card payments ONLY for course fees and materials. Transfer of Funds are no longer accepted. Employees seeking reimbursement for educational expenses must obtain their manager's approval through Bright Horizon. Employees must submit proof of completion and receipts upon completion of a course in order to be reimbursed. Our waitlist is maintained on a first-come, first-served basis. Upon seat availability, you will be contacted automatically with further instructions on how to register.</li></ul>

<h3>CANCELLATION and REFUND</h3><ul><li>FULL REFUND for cancellations at least 2 weeks prior to class date.</li><li>PARTIAL REFUND for cancellations less than 2 weeks prior to class date.</li><li>NO REFUND for cancellations less than 5 days prior to class date.</li><li>For SCH Employees: NO SHOWS or cancellations on the day of class are considered unexcused absences. Managers will be notified. A medical note may be required in the event of illness or medical emergencies.</li><li>Cancellation by CPEI: Schedules, venues and details are subject to change and cancellation. Registered participants will be provided with as much advance notice as possible if this should occur. If CPEI cancels class, full refund will be given.</li><li>Email CPEILearning@stanfordchildrens.org to request cancellation and refund.</li></ul>
