1. What is the Northeast Equity Walk?

The Equity Walk is part of our Hispanic Heritage Month: FUERZA Entrepreneur Week. It’s a community-centered walk through Kansas City’s Historic Northeast, uplifting stories of cultura, resilience, and the fight for equity as well as uplifing our small businesses.

Everyone is welcome — families, youth, elders, educators, artists, and community leaders. This is for anyone who believes in equity, cultura, and comunidad.

No — this is a community walk for equity. We are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month while spotlighting the importance of representation, equity, and inclusion in our neighborhoods.

4. How long is the walk?

The walk will be about 2 miles, with stops for storytelling, art and meeting the NE small businesses on the walk. It’s designed to be accessible and family-friendly.

Yes, registration is free, and it helps us plan for the number of participants.

We’re reclaiming Hispanic Heritage Month as our own, centering real community voices. This walk is about honoring our roots, our abuelita’s lessons, our barrios, and our power to create change together.

The walk is organized by the Chicano Center for the Arts, Latinx Education Collaborative, and community partners, as part of Hispanic Heritage Month: Barrio Edition.
