<h2>Made in Iowa: Iowa Manufacturing Forecast</h2><h2>Event description:</h2><p>What’s the outlook for Iowa’s manufacturers as the economy recovers from the global pandemic, and what new challenges lie ahead? This Business Record panel discussion of industry leaders and economists will examine the latest trends and provide their forecast for the state of Iowa’s manufacturing industry for the remainder of 2021 and into 2022. </p><p>Advanced manufacturing is one of Iowa’s largest industry sectors, accounting for more than $30 billion of the state’s economic output annually and directly employing about 15% of Iowa workers, according to data from the National Association of Manufacturers. </p><p>Manufacturing is also an industry undergoing significant technological changes with the advancement of further automation and smart technology. In January, the Iowa Economic Development Authority released a Manufacturing 4.0 plan aimed at advancing technology adoption and use among Iowa manufacturers, as well as enhancements to the state’s broader manufacturing ecosystem. The manufacturing industry also faces both challenges and opportunities from the movement toward a carbon-free economy to address global climate change.</p><h2>Among the questions we plan to tackle:</h2><ul><li>What are some of the key takeaway lessons from the pandemic? </li></ul><ul><li>Are there lingering effects from the pandemic that are still being felt?
