Visitors on DocoDrive: The Divine Line — Parables will embark on a unique, guided journey through four of Milwaukee’s most striking midcentury modern sacred spaces. This focused, west-side edition of the Divine Line tour offers a rare opportunity to experience the bold spirit and creative experimentation of postwar religious architecture.Saturday, September 27 – DocoDrive: The Divine Line Visitors self-drive between sites, with docents greeting them at each location.<ul><li>Benediction Lutheran Church (Donald Grieb, 1964) Six-sided tent-like sanctuary by the architect of the Mitchell Park Domes. Tour at 11:00 AM</li><li>Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church (Frank Lloyd Wright, 1961) Iconic golden dome and fusion of organic form with Byzantine tradition. Tour at 12:00 PAM</li><li>Abiding Word Evangelical Lutheran Church (Norman Hintz, 1967) Vibrant dalle de verre stained glass and early CNC-machined detailing. Tour at 1:00 PM</li><li>Garden of Eternal Life Mausoleum (Rae Reuss, 1972) Cosmic-inspired mausoleum of fieldstone, marble, and precast concrete with open-air crypts and a transcendent courtyard. Tour at 2:00 PM</li></ul>These tours, led by knowledgeable docents, will provide an engaging introduction and highlight key features of the architecture. After the tour, visitors are encouraged to continue exploring the space at their own pace, take photos, and engage with additional materials before heading to the next stop.Join us to uncover the powerful architectural "modern parables" that shaped Milwaukee’s spiritual landscape — and discover these extraordinary spaces from a fresh perspective.
