Raíces y RitmosA Tintas DC Showcase Raíces y Ritmos is a celebration of Latine voices from across the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Presented by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/tintas.dc/" title="https://www.instagram.com/tintas.dc/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Tintas DC,</a> this showcase highlights the richness and diversity of the Latine experience through poetry, storytelling, music and performance.Part of Dupont Underground’s Latine Heritage Month programming, the event brings together artists whose work reflects the rhythms and the roots of the Latine experience. She is a graduate of Guilford College, AmeriCorps and FEMA Corps. She was Austin Poetry Slam’s (APS) Women’s Individual Champion in 2018 and was a member of APS’ first all femme, all queer identifying slam team, the Freshfemme Class. She has been published in the Greenleaf Review and has self published her own chapbooks “Do Not be Easy to Hold" and "My Mouth is a Haunted House." Currently she lives in DC and works for the Smithsonian Science Education Center as an Inclusion Program Specialist. She is a strong believer in service and hopes she can represent her community well, with her actions, accountability, and most of all, words.Cynthia ViaCynthia Via is a multi-genre writer who works as a journalist, teacher, and editor. Her poetry and prose appears in The Acentos Review, Coffin Bell Journal, Write or Die, Yes! Magazine, Grace &amp; Gravity: Grit Anthology, Tierra Común Anthology, and elsewhere. Most recently she edited the essay collection, Sing Me a Circle for Trio House Press. She is a Tin House and VONA Workshop alum for Fiction and CNF. She also performs as a comedian. Her brand of deadpan humor was last witnessed at Seltzer and Improbable Comedy. She has a Bachelor in Journalism &amp; Creative Writing from the City University of New York, Baruch College. Originally from Peru, and raised in New York City, she now resides in Maryland. During off hours she spies on birds and ice skates. Follow her @nekoenlaluna on instagramDavid CepedaDavid Cepeda, PhD aka D. Enrique is a Latino educator, MC, and mental health activist residing in Washington DC. He is primarily a Science Teacher at Dunbar High, the nation's first public high school for black students. David is also active in the local community as a poet / hip-hop artist, mentor, and recovery advocate. As a person in recovery (from addiction and mental illness) for 13+ years, he is a firm believer in recovering out loud so others don't have to suffer silently…Leonardo MuñozLeonardo Muñoz is a Bolivian poet based in Virginia whose work draws deeply from personal experiences and the shared human condition. His poetry blends vivid imagery with honest reflection, inviting readers and listeners to feel deeply and think widely. Whether exploring themes of love, resilience, or identity, Leonardo crafts verses that linger in the heart and mind.He has performed at community events, cultural gatherings, and intimate readings, always seeking to create moments of genuine connection. For Leonardo, poetry is both a mirror and a bridge, a way to better understand ourselves and one another.When not writing, he immerses himself in art, nature, and conversations that challenge and inspire. His work is a celebration of vulnerability, strength, and the shared threads that weave us together. About Tintas DCTintas DC is a Latine writers group for storytellers in the DMV.
