"Illustrated Chinese Books and their Publics at Home and Abroad"The period from the late sixteenth through seventeenth centuries is often called the "golden age" of illustration in woodblock-printed Chinese books. During this time, both the numbers and variety of illustrated publications dramatically increased, reaching wider and more diverse audiences than ever before. This lecture by <a href="https://arthistory.wisc.edu/staff/julia-k-murray/" title="https://arthistory.wisc.edu/staff/julia-k-murray/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Julia K. Murray</a>, Emeritus Professor in Chinese Art, will explore visually appealing examples from a range of genres.This talk is presented as part of a series of events celebrating the Department of Art History’s Centennial.
