Mexic-Arte Museum to Host Its First In-Person Performance of the Year

Join the Mexic-Arte Museum for performances by Tereso Perfecto Contreras, and singer/songwriter Amalia Mondragón celebrating both Pride Month and the Museum’s current in-person exhibition, Mexico, the Border and Beyond: Selections from the Juan Antonio Sandoval Jr. Collection. Amalia Mondragón and Tereso Perfecto Contreras are currently working on a concept album entitled “Transfronterizx&#x27;&#x27; which seeks to amplify the unique life of the Transfronterizx — people who transit and navigate the U.S.-Mexico border as a way of life — through the lens of two individual, two-spirited people: Tereso Perfecto Contreras and Amalia Mondragón. Part of the album has been funded in part by <a href="https://www.nalac.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NALAC</a> and the <a href="https://www.fordfoundation.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ford Foundation</a> through the <a href="https://www.nalac.org/members/member-tags/2020-bnc-grants/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Border Narrative Change grant</a>. The show will consist of performances by Transfronterizx artists such as, <a href="http://www.djbirthdefects.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dj Birth DFX</a>, live painting by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/aka_mask/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Victor “Mask” Casas</a>, and performances by <a href="http://www.amaliamondragon.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Amalia Mondragón</a> and <a href="http://www.amaliamondragon.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Tereso Perfecto Contreras</a>.The event will also be live streamed via the Museum’s Instagram account <a href="https://www.instagram.com/mexic_arte/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">@mexic_arte</a> for those who aren’t able to make it in-person!Suggested donation of $5 – $10 at the door. Donations will go to performers. Parking: The Frost Bank Tower provides $10 parking for visitors after 5:00pm.
