Join us to celebrate the opening of "Permission to Descend," a solo exhibition with Joseph Justus

Permission to Descend, a solo exhibition with Joseph Justus, speaks to our collective experience over the last year of being in a pandemic atmospheric bubble. The exhibition is meant to celebrate a descent into a collective new normal. Please join us for a reception with the artist on Thursday, July 15th from 4 - 7 pm in partnership with California Love Drop to raise awareness for the charity started by co-founder of Wahoo’s Fish Tacos, Wing Lam.This new body of work by Justus was created during the pandemic as a reflection of what happens as we descend back into normal life. Justus’ work is wager against time and speed and his energetic compositions reflect the urban landscape. Much like the artist, Wing Lam founded California Love Drop during the pandemic to support and feed the first responders and front line healthcare workers. As we ease into a post-pandemic world, California Love Drop extends their mission to support local restaurants and extend their “love drops” to local schools. We are thrilled that both Joseph Justus and Wing Lam have created meaning and brought value to their local communities from such a time of uncertainty.The July 15th reception will be an opportunity to meet both artist and entrepreneur at Kennedy Contemporary. Justus will be present to discuss his work and Lam will be the celebrity bartender serving signature calorie conscious cocktails provided by The Whole Purpose. Proceeds from artworks sales will go to fund California Love Drop and their dedication to provide meals for our very own community members. A cash donation will gladly be accepted for the custom cocktails and proceeds will also go to support California Love Drop. Joseph Justus (b. 1982) holds a BA in Architecture from University of California at Berkeley and a MA from Columbia University in New York.
