A Free Virtual Play about Gender Creativity for Young Children

Habitot Children's Museum is an award-winning, 26-year old discovery museum for 0-5 year olds and their families. Formerly located in Berkeley, Habitot welcomed over 1.5 million visitors between 1998 and 2020 when it closed during the pandemic. Known for its outreach and inclusion programs that welcome the most vulnerable families - homeless families, teen parents, foster and adoptive families, formerly incarcerated parents, refugees, Habitot ensures that a broad range of families benefit from Habitot's hands-on exhibits, Art Studio and safe and supportive learning environment. Habitot is currently operating as a Mobile Museum serving families across the East Bay with with pop up events and temporary installations while seeking a permanent location for reopening.

Join us June 25th at 10:00am for a special Pride month play about gender creativity for young children!

Join us Friday, June 25th at 10:00am for Habitot Children&#x27;s Museum&#x27;s presentation of the Pineapple Project, an original virtual play about gender creativity, and each child&#x27;s freedom to be who they are! For you and your child ages 3-8 (though siblings older and younger definitely enjoy the show as well!) to broaden the gender conversation and validate each child&#x27;s identity. The performance will be followed by a question &amp; answer opportunity! About the Pineapple Project: &quot;Boys can&#x27;t be princesses!&quot; The impetus for The Pineapple Project came out of this moment during play between Mal and Mal&#x27;s niece. As a nonbinary person and theater artist, Mal knew that this moment could not go by without recognizing how early in a child’s development, ideas and influences can form around gender. And with years of experience working with LGBTQ youth who struggle with their gender, Mal, Becca, and Renee, felt it was time to create a theater piece that could help broaden the conversation as well as advocate for and validate each child&#x27;s individual freedom to be who they are.
