Tour of The Watermill Center

Founded in 1992 by avant-garde visionary and theater director Robert Wilson, The Watermill Center is an interdisciplinary laboratory for the arts and humanities located on Long Island’s East End. With an emphasis on creativity and collaboration, Watermill ​integrates performing arts practice with resources from the humanities, research from the sciences and inspiration from the visual arts. ​The Center is unique within the global landscape of experimental artistic practice and regularly convenes the brightest minds from across disciplines to do, in Wilson’s words, “what no one else is doing.”

Walkthrough history with an intimate guided tour of The Watermill Center and its manicured grounds and gardens, carefully curated art collection, and expansive study library. Operating as a year-round artist residency, The Watermill Center&#x27;s facility and campus offer a unique workspace for artists from across the globe, providing them with the time, space and freedom to create and inspire!The tour includes a viewing of Paul Thek: Interior / Landscape. Occupying two galleries within The Watermill Center’s main building, this exhibition features works and archival documents by the artist Paul Thek from the collections of Robert Wilson (Executor of the Estate of Paul Thek) and The Watermill Center, which has since 2006 maintained an adjacent permanent exhibition of the late artist’s work. PLEASE NOTE: The event takes place both indoors and outdoors, as such we strongly encourage proper footwear and attire. Masks are mandatory and we ask that all guests adhere to strict social distancing guidelines. Guests that are able to present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours prior to the event are able to opt-out of wearing a mask.All tours do begin promptly at 2:30 PM. Please arrive 15 minutes early. Advance registration is required.
