Culture Approved celebrates and encourages the uniqueness of individuals in all ways, always . The Culture Approved brand aspires to inspire a new societal view of our black boys and men by expanding our impact through the 2nd Annual BlackBoyJoy Retreat - Columbus, Ohio. This years retreat is on August 7, 2021 at 1903 Shillings Bridge Road, Orangeburg, SC 29115 #BlackBoyJoy is more than just a hashtag. It is a necessary movement to catalyze change the world needs to see.“#BlackBoyJoy is the carefree ability for men of all ages to define and express their joy uniquely, unapologetically, and limitlessly.” - Khala PaceOur event will feature a combination of outdoor interactive activities blended with intellectually challenging team building games. The activities emphasize Economic Financial Literacy, Leadership, Self-Actualization, and Teamwork. Young scholars between the ages of 9 to 11 will be grouped into small teams where they will play and learn through organized competition, capitalizing on their inherent nature to compete, collaborate, have fun and feed their curious natures. The teams will be celebrated and recognized throughout the day for their hard work, competitive spirits and ability to collaborate and cooperate with one another. Each scholar will be provided with breakfast and lunch, along with a backpack equipped with school supplies for the upcoming school year. In regards to our COVID-19 precautions, we kindly ask that participants that have symptoms of the virus, have tested positive for the virus, or have been exposed to someone with the virus within 2 weeks of the retreat to not attend the event. Vaccinated participants/ staff are not required to wear mask. Non-vaccinated participants are encouraged to wear mask but not required to. As a safety measure, all staff will be wearing masks which will also be available at the event, we encourage parents/guardians to have their participant bring a mask(s).Additionally, all supplies will be sanitized before use and the food provided will be individually wrapped.
