Event description
The Orlando Liturgical Conference is committed to evangelize, inspire, form, and educate diverse liturgical ministers.

About this event

For over 30 years the Diocese of Orlando has provided the Orlando Liturgical Conference to evangelize, inspire, form and educate our diverse liturgical ministers. Given the conditions presented by the pandemic this past year and understanding that those conditions are improving, the 2021 Orlando Liturgical Conference will be offered in-person with a modified format. The conference will be consolidated into a two-day experience encompassing liturgy, lecture, discussion and most importantly, spiritual renewal as we continue the process of inviting our people back to in-person worship. The venue has been changed in order to control costs and make the conference accessible financially to those who otherwise might not attend due to parish financial constraints.

This year’s theme “Liturgy in Action: Claiming our Baptism,” draws upon the experience we have all had during this past year; how difficult it was to gather to celebrate the liturgy in person; how our clergy yearned for the physical presence of Christ present in the assembly and how we are helping others respond to the invitation to come back to Mass. Liturgy in Action: Claiming our Baptism, will explore how liturgical ministry and liturgical participation is the response to our baptismal call to be “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people.” This response has its authentic expression in community; with our brothers and sisters in the manifestation of Christ’s presence in the Sacred Liturgy.

On Friday, August 27th, we will welcome Father Paul Turner as keynote speaker. This day will be devoted to theological discussion and reflection, along with a panel discussion addressing the celebration of the liturgy in a post-pandemic world. Join us for the celebration of Mass; Midday Prayer; and Evening Prayer.

On Saturday, August 28th, we will welcome Dr. Patricia Hughes and Mr. Michael Ruzicki from Liturgy Training Publications to facilitate a day of enrichment for liturgical ministers. This day is meant to feed and nurture all liturgical ministers as we prepare to renew ourselves in liturgical service.

It is hoped that this modified format will help us to focus on what is important and a renewal of our commitment to serve in the midst of the assembly; to give praise and worship to the triune God as God’s adopted sons and daughters—the priesthood of the baptized.

Accommodations are available, but limited, at San Pedro Spiritual Development Center for attendees wishing to lodge close to the conference. The rate for conference attendees is $75 per night. Please contact Natalie at (407) 671-6322 to make your reservation.
