Join us for the Salon Redux kickoff of DC’s literary & cultural salons inspired by Poet/Playwright Georgia Douglas Johnson.

You are invited to attend the launch of Salon Redux: In the Spirit of Georgia Douglas Johnson, a citywide public humanities project honoring DC’s literary and cultural history on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 6PM at the Howard University Writing Center. Inspired by Johnson’s iconic S Street Salon, where she hosted Zora Neale Hurston, Langston Hughes, May Miller and many others, this initiative invites DC residents to host small gatherings that foster dialogue, culture, and connection. At the kickoff, we’ll unveil the official toolkit and ignite this exciting journey. Let’s come together, honor the past and spark conversations for today.
