The Division of Digital Learning is responsible for leveraging the latest educational technologies in support of UCF’s academic mission, with a particular emphasis on exploring innovative ways to positively impact student access, the cost of providing an education, and the quality of the learning experience.

The CDL Faculty Connect Expo is a one-day event intended to bring UCF faculty and staff together to explore digital learning services.

UCF Classroom Building 1 (Faculty Multimedia Center)

The Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) is hosting its second annual CDL Faculty Connect event for faculty, staff and GTAs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5.Join us for an exciting fall day filled with light fare, faculty-exclusive swag and hands-on demonstrations every hour on the hour from CDL teams, including the Faculty Multimedia Center, Instructional Designers, Webcourses@UCF Support, and the Emmy award-winning CDL Video team!This expo is restricted to faculty, staff and GTAs at the University of Central Florida.More information to come so register today! Workshop Schedule

Want to make your online course content more welcoming and accessible for every student? Join UCF accessibility professionals to identify common barriers and demonstrate quick, effective strategies to improve course design. We’ll work through interactive activities that will test and hone your digital accessibility knowledge. Additionally, we will demonstrate some free and simple-to-use tools and services available to you to enhance your course. 

In this workshop, you will:

Recognize common accessibility barriers in online courses, such as missing captions, unclear headings, and lack of alt text, and their impact on students.
Apply practical strategies to design accessible, student-friendly courses.
Identify UCF resources and tools to support ongoing accessibility improvements in your courses.

Access Granted: Building Welcoming Courses

This hands-on, bring-your-own-device workshop will explore generative AI tools in a collaborative setting. Join us to play with prompt design, try out features in UCF’s Enterprise Copilot Chat, and share ideas for enhancing teaching, productivity, and everyday workflows. Working together, we’ll co-create useful outputs such as structured data and simple custom bots. Let’s experiment, explore, and imagine what’s next for our classrooms and projects.

In this workshop, participants will:

Explore UCF’s Enterprise Copilot Chat and brainstorm practical ways to integrate GenAI into teaching, learning, and daily work.
Develop and refine prompts to generate structured and repurposable AI outputs.
Collaborate and co-create custom tools, structured datasets, and ideas to inspire new workflow possibilities.
This workshop is limited to UCF faculty, staff, and GTAs.

Prompt, Play, and Create with GenAI

Extended Reality (XR)—encompassing Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality—is redefining how faculty engage students and design learning experiences. In this session, the Center for Distributed Learning (CDL) will showcase how XR can be applied across disciplines to enhance engagement, improve retention, and foster experiential learning.

Participants will learn how CDL supports faculty at every stage of XR integration—from instructional design consultation to content creation (limited), training, and equipment access through the Faculty Multimedia Center (FMC). The session will include a brief overview of XR technologies, demonstrations of classroom applications, and hands-on opportunities with a range of headsets and mobile-based viewers.

Whether you’re curious about immersive learning or ready to build your first XR module, CDL’s team of instructional designers and multimedia specialists will help you imagine what’s possible and show you how to make it happen.

Immersive Teaching at UCF: How CDL Supports Faculty with XR

Bring your laptop or tablet to review gradebook settings and receive hands-on assistance configuring your gradebook and ensuring that you have everything in place to submit your final grades. Learn ways to weight and curve grades, and how you can use Grading Schemes to help automate your final grade submission process. This workshop will also cover if you calculate your final grades outside of the gradebook, and how to manage settings to reduce student confusion.
