FFi Women Connect  - Gulf Coast Council

An event for Gulf Coast women fly anglers to connect and celebrate Women's Fly Fishing Month. Hosted by FFi Women Connect.

Gulf State Park

BYOB (bring your own bike) or take advantage of Gulf State Parks ride share program. We will be pedaling and fly fishing our way around Lake Shelby in pursuit of bass, bream, gar and anything else that bites. We will meet at 8am CST Saturday morning at Gulf Oak Ridge bike station. From here we will work our way around Lake Shelby stopping for an early lunch at Gulf State Park’s Woodside Restaurant. Total length of the trip is about 6 miles. Recommended gear: backpack, 3-5wt rod/reel, assorted bass and bream flies, sunscreen and water. You must purchase a freshwater license before you begin fishing. You can purchase them online. There is a courtesy computer located in the Bait &amp; Tackle shop on the Pier that you are able to use to purchase a license online. The three lakes at the Park are classified as freshwater and the Pier is classified as saltwater.
