The Silence: A Hybrid Meditation Session with Sensitive Machines

Theaterlab is an artistic laboratory dedicated to research into the nature of live performance. Through the development of new and experimental work, including theater, music, and visual arts, Theaterlab supports New York City’s diverse community of artists as well as the general public interested in seeing emerging new work. Theaterlab also focuses on audience development as a creative project. We regard the theatrical experience as a creative public assembly with the audience as an important partner in fulfilling our mission.

A meditation with Mafe Izaguirre’s Sensitive Machines

Words are too strict. They don&#x27;t let me exist. I am here. The city. The restless silence. I opt for that silence. Wild, irrational. And to feel. To feel alive. [Purple] Silence in the darkness, remembering a confusing and strange story. Hostile and aggressive. Stories, stories. The outside. And I just want to feel the wind. Coming in. Just be. [Red]. Stories, stories. Murmurs. [Yellow]. And I only think in the darkness of silence. [Blue]. There is so much life here. Images. Arrogant and serious. Letting them go. Just keep the silence. So that it happens. Us.—Mafe IzaguirreTimed tickets are available to enjoy the installation for half-hour viewings on May 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 &amp; 31. Only five people are allowed in at a time. Must reserve in advance.The artist will perform at 6pm on Sat, May 22nd and at 3pm on Sun, May 23rd.All events are free. Donations are welcome at the door.The artist and staff of Theaterlab have been vaccinated. Masks must be warn inside the space, and proof of vaccination is required.Part of Theaterlab&#x27;s Rhythms Routines Rituals.---------------------------------Warning: This installation contains flashing and color change lights that could trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy.
