Mcity ABC Test: A Concept for Assuring Automated Vehicle Safety

Join us to learn more about the Mcity ABC Test concept methodology for evaluating AV safety before testing on public roads.

<p>Mcity at the University of Michigan began working on the Mcity ABC Test concept in  2018 as consumer trust in AVs dropped sharply following two high-profile fatal crashes. Today, consumers remain wary.  Yet realizing all the potential benefits of automation -- safer roads,  lower energy use, expanded access to  transportation -- depends on consumers embracing the technology. </p><p> Mcity Director Huei Peng, who led development of the ABC Test concept, and Mcity Associate Director Greg McGuire, will discuss the need for a testing methodology, and how Mcity developed the ABC Test concept. The methodology  will be demonstrated via video using Mcity research vehicles at the Mcity Test Facility, U-M's proving ground for advanced mobility vehicles and technologies.</p>
