<p>Peatlands are wet and open habitats that offer our communities both a unique and diverse range of biodiversity. As the weather begins to improve, we find ourselves outdoors more often preparing our gardens for the
 summer ahead. You may purchase peat moss compost from your local
 garden centre, petrol station or even supermarket not knowing the devastating impact
 that the harvesting of peat moss compost has on Ireland’s peatland biodiversity. This
 biodiversity week, the Irish Peatland Conservation Council will deliver an online talk to raise the profile of peatland biodiversity, the benefits
 it offers us all and the impacts of peat extraction on peatland habitat and biodiversity.
 This free online talk will focus on and offer an
 insight into choosing peat free through home composting. You will also learn some of the top tips to get
 started, the different types of compost systems available to you and frequently asked questions.</p>
