MDD&#x27;s June VSPS features artists Anabella Lenzu (Argentina; NYC, USA), Barbara Mahler (NYC, USA), and Seema Viswanath (India; North Carolina, USA) on Thursday, June 3rd at 7PM ET.Mark DeGarmo Dance broadcasts its transcultural transdisciplinary Virtual Salon Performance Series for Social Change to an international audience on Zoom with performances featuring international and emerging performing artists Kennedy Banks (Chicago, USA), Winifred Haun (IL, USA), Céline Richard Robichon and Armel Mzalina (Canada), and Marat Yagfarov (Kazakhstan) on Thursday, May 6th at 7PM ET. The 2019-20 season featured 51 artists/performers in 9 salons, the final 3 of which were held virtually on Zoom.Mark DeGarmo Dance recognizes the impact of COVID-19 on global artists and our communities and is committed to offering opportunities for artists to share and develop their work, despite and responding to our current circumstances. Through virtual programming and online events, MDD connects the embodied imaginations of the international arts and scholar community.Dr. Mark DeGarmo curates the series and facilitates audience response sessions during each installment through a critical response process. DeGarmo guides discourse among the artists and audience members and encourages the public to actively participate in the development of original works-in-progress and understanding of dance as a transcultural transdisciplinary art form.<a href="https://markdegarmodance.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://markdegarmodance.org</a>About the ArtistsANABELLA LENZU is a dancer, choreographer, writer, and teacher with over 30 years of experience working in Argentina, Chile, Italy, and the USA; originally from Argentina; living in Brooklyn.BARBARA MAHLER is an acclaimed choreographer, movement educator (Kleintechnique), and body worker (zero balancing) residing and working in the greater New York area.SEEMA VISWANATH, from south India, is founder and director of Nritya MāyāNanda School of Arts in North Carolina. She is a seasoned classical dancer in the dance forms of Bharatanatyam and Kathak.ABOUT MARK DEGARMO DANCEFounded in 1987, Mark DeGarmo Dance is a nonprofit organization working synergistically for 20 years with and supporting The Clemente Soto Velez Center from MDD Studio Theater 310 in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. MDD commits its resources to serving anti-racism, social justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, sovereignty, compassion, kindness, and peace across multiple fronts through dance arts in NYC, USA, and internationally. The National Endowment for the Arts called MDD’s Partnerships in Literacy through Dance and Creativity© education program “a national model.”ABOUT MARK DEGARMOMark DeGarmo, Ph.D., B.F.A. is a New York City-based dancer, choreographer, writer, and researcher. Founder, Executive &amp; Artistic Director of Mark DeGarmo Dance, DeGarmo’s honors and awards include Martha Hill Dance Fund Mid-Career Award (USA), Fulbright Senior Scholar Fellowship (Peru), USA Department of State Cultural Specialist Award (Ecuador), and The White House Millennium Artist Program supported by The National Endowment for the Arts.
