ABOUT ECLIPSE SEASONThe astronomical definition of an eclipse is when a New or Full Moon occurs within 17 degrees of the Lunar Nodes. Eclipse season happens twice a year and signifies change in the houses where it occurs in your chart.Solar eclipses are opportunities to reassess our conscious mind, actions, and ego. They are often associated with new beginnings, as we recalibrate toward what is authentic to us and away from what is not.Lunar eclipses may bring suppressed emotions to the surface. They offer a chance to close the doors on old chapters that may still be lingering.The North and South Nodes—called Rahu and Ketu in the Vedic tradition—represent the karma the soul has accumulated and the areas where it needs to grow. They change signs every 18 months, completing a full rotation through the Zodiac every 18 years. By understanding where they are currently transiting in our charts, we can see where these lessons will arise and where change is likely to occur.This eclipse season begins with a Lunar Eclipse in the sidereal sign of Aquarius on September 7th and concludes with a partial Solar Eclipse on September 21st in the sidereal sign of Virgo (with Ketu at the end of Leo while the Sun and Moon align at the very beginning of Virgo).It is common to feel anxious or overwhelmed during eclipse season—starting as early as the shadow period, which begins about two weeks before the first eclipse, and peaking between the two eclipses. Reviewing the natal chart and reflecting on these transits can help ease anxiety by bringing awareness to the areas of life the eclipse may be affecting.
