An experimental inter-disciplinary micro-festival running for six nights at Blaffer Art Museum between May 23—June 5, 2021.

A Time for Action is necessary and now, confronting urgent political circumstances with an expansive performative language. This survey of performance across dance, theatre, music, spoken word, visual art, and trans-disciplinarity is organized by six intrepid guest curators: Aisha Tida Abbassi, Outspoken Bean, Rivkah French, Julia Barbosa Landois, Jake Sandridge, and Sixto Wagan.A Time for Action: Curated by Julia Barbosa Landois on Saturday, May 29 features Michael Anthony Garcia,

About the Performers: Daniela Antelo is a performance and installation artist living and working in Houston TX. Through the exploration of body movement in day to day situations, Antelo highlights the absurd of everyday life and the human responses to daily events. Antelo also works with Brenda Cruz-Wolf in the artist duo Las Girls Collective, creating site specific and community involved experimental works.Erick Zambrano is an Ecuadorian artist and educator based in Houston, TX. He earned a BFA from Midwestern State University, and MFA from the University of Houston. He creates sculptures and enacts performance-rituals that propose a precariously assembled, part-archaic future. Zambrano’s work has been exhibited at Art League Houston, the Blaffer Art Museum, and the Yokohama Kenmin Hall, in Yokohama, Japan.Multidisciplinary artist &amp; independent curator Michael Anthony García, claiming both Mexican and US citizenship, while based in Austin, Texas, predominantly focuses his practice on photography/ video, sculpture/ installation, and performance. Much of his work explores his layers of identity and how they shape his perception of/ by the world, in a political expression of Latinx Futurism founded in emotion and utopian projection. He is a founding member of Los Outsiders collective &amp; has curated large-scale exhibitions of international artists, in &amp; out of the US. He participated in the 2011 Texas Biennial &amp; has won awards both for his curatorial &amp; 3D work.Julia Barbosa Landois is a multidisciplinary artist based in Houston whose work teases profundity and absurdity from the everyday and examines the relationship between the intimate and the public. Her performance works, videos, and installations have been exhibited throughout the United States and in Latin America and Europe, including performances at the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Contemporary Art Museum Santa Barbara, Fusebox Festival, and McNay Art Museum. Barbosa Landois was a 2018-2019 artist resident at Lawndale Art Center and 2019 National Association of Latino Arts &amp; Cultures grantee
