We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Gatherings on Zoom.</p><p>20 people</p><p>For those who identify as white and have completed Courage to Connect courses.</p><p>In Courage to Connect 101 we learn angel Kyodo william’s helpful words, “Without inner change, there is no outer change” and “without collective change, no change matters.” Often the inner work of abolishing racism to bring out the common good requires different actions and conversations for those of us who share the experience of living and acting with white bodies. </p><p> Our presumption is that all people are good at their core, which includes white people, and that white people are essential in the fight against white body supremacy. To be true allies to people of color and win this fight, we must take outward action while also committing to the difficult inner work of facing the racism that lives in our bodies. White caucus groups, or brave spaces where white folks gather to learn about and challenge our own racism, are wonderful places to do this. </p><p>Troy and Liz will work together to facilitate a brave and supportive environment for white participants to look curiously at the places we get defensive about racism, ask the questions we’ve been too embarrassed to ask, and identify the patterns of white supremacy we may be unwittingly running in our daily lives. We do this work in groups so that everyone can feel both supported and held accountable in their journey, and we do this work only amongst other white people because (a) it allows us more space to be vulnerable with the embarrassment and shame that might arise, and (b) we do not want to further oppress people of color by exposing them to or burdening them with these feelings.  </p><p>This three week course will touch a bit on the history of whiteness in the U.S., but our main focus will be on how our bodies carry white supremacy and how individual wounds accumulated over our lifetimes help fuel our perpetuation of it. In this course, we will learn and practice different tools of embodiment and connection to identify where and how the roots of our racism show up, as well as learn ways to discharge and heal these energies. </p><p>Our commitments as facilitators (Liz and Troy) are to bring humor, humility, presence, and unconditional love to this caucus. We’re in this fight learning alongside you, and we need each other. </p><p><strong>About the Facilitators</strong>:</p><p>Liz Burpee recently moved back to the Midwest from New Orleans and is very excited to be joining The Hive. She is a new mom, a musician, and has served professionally as a non-profit executive director, community organizer, and leader of health equity collective impact initiatives.  Liz has also practiced peer counseling for almost a decade and has four years of experience facilitating anti-racism discussions, white caucuses, and learning groups. </p><p>Troy Bronsink founded the Hive in 2016 with a desire to collaborate with facilitators from various traditions and backgrounds, making space for transformative individual and group encounters. He brings 25 years of experience in small group facilitation ranging from corporate consulting to community organizing, to spiritual formation. Troy has been convening small and large group contemplative healing spaces, called Courage to Connect, with his colleagues Daniel Hughes and Shanda Sugg, for four years now with over 1000 participants as well as consultancy with organizations seeking mindful anti-racist skills for culture transformation. </p><h3>Your Zoom link will be sent with your registration confirmation.
