The Lit & Luz Festival of Language, Literature, and ArtBegan in 2012 (unofficially) with the release of the fully translated—Spanish/English—MAKEMagazineissue 13, "Intercambio/Exchange." In 2014 the Lit & Luz Festival was launched from those pages and ever since has produced yearly events in Mexico City and Chicago, with writers and artists from Chicago, Mexico, and beyond.MAKE Literary Production’s sixth annual Lit & Luz Festival of Language, Literature, and Art, themed "Movement" is an ambitious exchange between Mexico City and Chicago. The week-long festival takes place at over a dozen arts venues and universities throughout Chicago, October 12th-19th. It concludes at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago with our signature event, the “Live Magazine Show." The following February, a similar series of events are held in Mexico City.We are honored to welcome inspiring authors, artists, and arts professionals from Mexico to Chicago. Art and language are key to understanding culture and community, and the cultural exchange between the United States and Mexico. With events such as Lit & Luz, we hope to strengthen the relationship between the two countries, and in particular, to increase the distribution of literature and art from Mexico for Chicago audiences and beyond.

Ciudad de Morelia (2016) and Fuego de dos fraguas (2016).Poeta, ensayista y defensora de derechos humanos. Ha sido becaria de la Fundación para las Letras Mexicanas y del FONCA. Obtuvo la primera residencia de creación literaria Fondo Ventura/Almadía. Ella es la autora de Barranca (2018) y Procesos de la noche (2018). Various forms of performance, theater, and documentary strategies make up the threads that run through her work. She engages with individuals and communities to create participatory video and performance work. Recent projects include The Broadcast (2019), a video project for the Broad Museum of Art in East Lansing considering truth and distortion in public address and media representations; Present Tense (2019), a multichannel video work commissioned by Illinois Humanities, in which young men and women reflect on their lived experiences of the current justice system and prison-industrial complex and (Re)Housing the American Dream (2015–ongoing), a multi-year performative documentary project with American-born and refugee youth commissioned by the Haggerty Museum of Art in Milwaukee.Kirsten Leenaars es videoartista interdisciplinaria y radica en Chicago. Distintas formas de performance, teatro y estrategias documentales componen los hilos que recorren su obra. Ella se relaciona con individuos y comunidades para realizar videos participativos y obras de performance.
