COVID-19 has impacted us all in different ways, and required a reimagining of education--during the pandemic and beyond. This time has also become an invocation to reflect on ourselves and our communities, and examine how we address social justice, center artistic expression, and value each individual in our society. Being in a distance-learning environment this past year made way for new discoveries, new ways of working and different strategies for connecting to each other amidst the various challenges. The last year brought uncertainty, isolation and unprecedented burdens, while disproportionately affecting students of color. We are speaking with BIPOC teachers about their experiences of this last year, and their perspective on the impacts of the pandemic and recent social uprisings on their students and classrooms. These conversations are a search with the intention of building a new reality together. We are gathering responses to bring to policy makers with the intention of making meaningful change in the field of education through this important work.
