WHD is pleased to offer and host training on critical workplace protections through our Essential Workers-Essential Protections Initiative.

The U.S. Department of Labor&#x27;s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) in Kansas City, Kansas along with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the U.S. Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) and the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will be presenting on their continuing efforts during COVID-19 to employees, business owners and other stakeholders. ***2 day event***May 26, 2021 (Wednesday)1:00-1:05 - Welcome: Trini Murguia, Wage and Hour CORPS1:05-1:25 - Toria Mroz, EEOC Outreach and Training Coordinator. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission will provide a brief overview of the impact of Covid-19 on the laws enforced by the Commission, including issues around medical testing, screening, vaccines, and reasonable accommodations under Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act. 1:25-1:45 - Elizabeth Morales, OSHA Compliance Assistance Specialist-KCAO. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Act will provide information to ensure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance. 1:45-2:05 - Trini Murguia, WHD Community Outreach Resource Planning Specialist. The U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division will provide a brief overview of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and will discuss common violations found due to Covid-19 along with how to file a complaint.2:05-2:25- Fran Gray, EBSA Lead Benefits Advisor. The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 provides premium assistance for health benefits under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA). For coverage periods beginning on or after April 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021, individuals who experienced an involuntary termination of employment or a reduction in hours may be eligible for a subsidy for the full COBRA premium. This webcast will help employers and plan service providers understand the COBRA premium assistance provisions and how to comply.2:25-2:40 - Q&amp;A&#x27;s-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------May 27, 2021 (Thursday1:00-1:05 - Welcome: Trini Murguia, Wage and Hour CORPS1:05-1:25 - Sara Haymaker, SBA Deputy District Director. The U.S. Small Business Administration will provide an overview of Covid-19 relief programs available to small business owners and certain non-profits including the Paycheck Protection Program, Economic Injury Disaster Loan, Shuttered Venue Operations Grants, Restaurant Revitalization Fund , and debt or fee relief for traditional SBA loan products. 1:25-1:45 - Kathleen Fox, IRS Senior Stakeholder Liason, Area 6. The U.S. Internal Revenue Service will provide information about the 2021 Advance Child Tax Credit, what qualifications are needed and the implementation of the program. 1:45-2:05 - Trini Murguia, WHD Community Outreach Resource Planning Specialist.
