An Emotionally Focused Therapy Approach to Working with Resistant Clients

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)is based on clear, explicit ways to understand relationship distress and adult love that is supported by extensive research on love, attachment, neurobiology, and romantic bonds.  This model is collaborative and respectful of clients. It is a combination of humanistic (client-centered), experiential, and systemic techniques and interventions. The change process has been mapped into three stages and nine steps.  EFT has also been applied to different kinds of problems (for example, individuals, families, trauma, addiction, etc.) and populations. It is currently being expanded to effectively treat individuals and families.   EFT was created by Dr. Sue Johnson.The South Florida Community for Emotionally Focused Therapy (SFCEFT)is an International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (ICEEFT.com) recognized community in who are  a supportive network of local therapists with varying amounts of training in EFT who wish to support each other clinically and create a referral network.We also provide opportunities for mental health professions to learn the practice of EFT.All official professional training events are led by ICEEFT certified EFT trainers , supervisors, or certified therapists. Additional events, training and social activities for therapists and/or clients to promote EFT are hosted by professionals in the community.SFCEFT is committed to fostering the development of a community of EFT trained couple and family therapists in this region to fill the community's need for competent therapists. We work to increase public awareness of EFT as an effective, science based treatment for strengthening relationship bonds. We are dedicated to promoting the learning and practice of EFT and we encourage therapist certification in EFT and lifelong learning. A free live talk on emotionally focused therapy (EFT) strategies to help clinicians working with challenging and resistant clients.

<h3>An Emotionally Focused Therapy Approach to Working with Resistant Clients </h3>Anabelle Bugatti, PhD, LMFT ("Dr. Belle") runs a successful private practice in Las Vegas, NV and is the host of the We Heart Therapy YouTube Channel for Therapists, EFT Talk. She is President of Southern Nevada Community for Emotionally Focused Therapy and is an ICEEFT certified EFT Supervisor and Therapist. Based on "Dr. Belle's" new emotionally focused therapy based book, Using Relentless Empathy in The Therapeutic Relationship: Connecting with Challenging and Resistant Clients, she will present a refreshing approach to resistance in therapy through the attachment lens, and will discuss how to build connections with your most challenging and difficult clients. During the event, feel free to eat lunch (or breakfast depending upon where you are) and we'll learn and discuss the importance of empathy in the therapeutic alliance as a vehicle to promote change and growth. EFT tips to help clinicians work with their most challenging clients will be provided.This seminar is a non-CE fundraising event hosted by SFCEFT! Please donate to our diversity/inclusion scholarship fund training for therapists who are or who work with marginalized communities and organizations. We have given away thousands of dollars in training and with your help can continue to provide even more.
