The Charlotte Center presents The Forum featuring The Rev. Eboni Marshall Turman, Ph.D., Yale Divinity Scholar

Participate in the important questions of our time. The Forum is a new conversation and speaker series that brings the humanities and civic imagination to bear on the challenges and opportunities of public life.Please join us for the May 19, 2021 gathering of The Forum featuring The Rev. Eboni Marshall Turman, Ph.D., Yale Divinity Scholar. We will consider: How might addressing race and gender issues honestly in America result in a new understanding of the common good? A groundbreaking thinker and highly sought after speaker, Dr. Turman is assistant professor of theology and African American religion at Yale University Divinity School. A first-career concert dancer and the youngest ordained minister at the historic Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, New York, her research interests span the varieties of 20th century US theological liberalisms, most especially Black and womanist theology, and the connection between theology and art. She formerly served as Director of Black Church Studies at Duke University. Dr. Turman holds degrees in philosophy, theology, and Christian ethics from Fordham University and Union Theological Seminary.Connect. Consider. Ignite. The program runs from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time with extra time afterward for conversation, connections, and Q&amp;A. The Forum has a three-part structure:<ul><li>First third: Participants connect and build relationships in small break-out groups prompted by a question; </li><li>Middle third: Participants hear a presentation by and interview with our guest speaker that ends with the speaker posing a question to participants to consider;</li><li>Final third: Participants discuss the question, igniting new ideas and interactions. </li></ul>THE HUMANITIES | Languages | Literature | History | Philosophy | Religion | And MoreEvent ticket is $15.
