Armed Forces Day iRacing Challenge & Fundraiser.

VETMotorsports is an award-winning, non-profit, non-clinical outreach program that honors and empowers active military, National Guard, Reserve, Gold Star parents, and veterans with service-connected injuries and their caregivers by embedding them with professional racing teams and putting them behind the wheel to race in amateur events. By placing veterans in hands-on, high-stress, team environments that mimic active duty, the organization gives them direction, empowerment and challenges that help them focus on ability and moving forward rather than disability and the past. Since its founding in 2012, VETMotorsports has helped more than 200 injured veterans participate in over 80 motorcycle and auto racing events across the United States. <h1>Racing is racing!<strong> </strong></h1><p>Racing has a prolific history of supporting causes for the greater good. This spring VETMotorsports presents the Armed Forces Day Challenge. This event will be held on the popular racing simulator platform iRacing, hosted by Rayesportsracing.com, and broadcasted by the Global Simracing Channel (GSRC). Competing drivers will go head-to-head while supporting North America’s largest veteran non-profit the Mission: Providing a grassroots effort using motorsports to empower Active, Guard, Reserve, veterans with service-connected injuries, and Gold Star families.</p><p></p><h1>Here are the details.</h1><ul><li>DATE: 15 May 2021	</li><li>TRACK:  Laguna Seca</li><li>Broadcast: 7pm - 9pm EDT</li><li>Practice 5 pm - 6 pm</li><li>Qualifying 6 pm -7 pm</li><li>Race Grp 1:  The race start at 7:15 pm</li><li>Race grp 2:  The race start at 7:55 pm</li></ul><p>This event is global, open to anyone with an iRacing account. For more information about iRacing, please visit <a href="https://www.iracing.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.iracing.com/</a>.</p><p>Here’s how the two groups breakdown:</p><ul><li>Group 1 - Global MX-5 Cup + Ford Mustang FR500S. 30-minute sprint races, open setups, and a 20x incident limit.</li><li>Group 2 - GT3’s. This 60-minute race is a single driver, open setups, fuel limits, and a 25x incident limit. Cars allowed: Audi R8 LMS, BMW M4 GT3 Prototype, Ferrari 488 GT3, Ford GT GT3,  Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO, Mercedes AMG GT3 &amp; McLaren MP4-12C GT3.</li></ul><p></p><h1>Who can participate?</h1><p>This event is global, open to anyone with an iRacing account. Drivers can register for Group 1 and/or Group 2. Registering drivers will pay an entry amount of $5, provide their contact information, select a branch of service they are representing (optional), and will be issued an event access code in a follow-up email.</p><h3>Participants will have the option of making an optional donation, the amount of their choosing.</h3><p>Want to participate and support a great cause? Register now!</p><p></p><h1>Why donate?</h1><p>VETMotorsports places qualifying participants within a wide range of motorsports-related activities including amateur events and even professional race teams; creating a mission-focused, high-intensity, team environment that provides a powerful analog to military service experience and offers them new challenges to help them focus on their abilities in the context of the future vice the disabilities of the past. </p><p>Indeed, since 2013 we have become the nation&#x27;s leading non-profit in this space; having placed more than 200 Active Duty, Guard, Reserve, Gold Star parents and veterans with service-connected injuries into motorsports activities in locations such as Alabama, Arizona, Baja California (Mexico), California, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. We accomplish all of this through the generous support of an all-volunteer staff, and of course, the support of individuals and companies such as the Sports Car Club of America Foundation, The Sports Car Club of America, AutoInterests, The East Coast Timing Association, and The Great Lakes Nostalgia Funny Car Circuit.
