In this session, participants will exchange tips and resources for sustainable and equitable grading and feedback.

As educators, we act both as gatekeepers who uphold challenges and standards, and as supporters who nurture students and help them reach the bar. Both roles provide opportunities to make our classrooms more equitable. Course grading systems, such as contract, specifications, or completion grading, can empower students with meaningful choices. Other practices--such as unveiling how to succeed, grading anonymously, and giving feedback that maintains standards but provides personal assurance--can reduce stereotype threat and level the academic playing field. Join us to exchange approaches that create equity while sustaining everybody’s bandwidth.For Future Faculty Program participants, this session fulfills the &quot;Diversity &amp; Inclusive Teaching&quot; OR &quot;Course &amp; Syllabus Design&quot; OR &quot;Assignments, Assessment &amp; Active Learning&quot; requirement.This session is only open to Northeastern University educators.
