The Hive at The Claremont Colleges

How would you redesign your 5C experience? Take part in a 1.5-2 hour workshop that is focused on mental health and community building.

The workshops are an early step in a larger design process unfolding in the next year. You’ll be leading the way—we’re just here to listen, pose a few guiding questions, and help translate concerns into action.Join our focus group to share, be heard, and spark real change.What to expect:Stories from your peers. Connection. Being heard.The design of the workshop is fully interactive with a combination of individual, small group, and large group activities prompting reflection and discussion of your personal experiences. Our job is to create a safe and comfortable space for you to be heard, seen and respected.You will also leave the session with practical tools to disrupt!The long-term vision: To change the way colleges and universities care for students. In addition to creating changes at the Claremont Colleges, the work we do here will be a starting point for improving care systems at other Higher Ed institutions.--Who is leading the first rounds of listening? Katy Grennier is the CEO of DSIL Global - a feminist and queer-led social enterprise. Her life started by navigating the flawed foster care system in the states and has now spent her life globally disrupting and shaking up harmful systems and working with communities to solve tough challenges. The fire in her belly keeps her fueled.Natalie Slater is a 2019 Pomona graduate with firsthand experience of how difficult and harmful the collegiate care system can be. She’s excited to learn from current Claremont students and work together to make changes, particularly around Title IX services and disability accommodations.
