Fierce, fascinating, and full of feline personality, tigers have captivated our imagination and mystique for time immemorial. Connecting with these majestic creatures is a rare and wonderful gift. Join taxidermists Gina Yoon and Divya Anantharaman to engage with these beautiful creatures in a truly unique webinar! PLEASE NOTE-the tigers showcased in this taxidermy seminar were residents of the Seoul Zoo who passed naturally. No animals were harmed for this work! Gina and Divya will discuss the unique characteristics of tigers, and the incredible opportunity of working alongside zookeepers and scientists to gain a comprehensive understanding of the animal inside and out. Gina will share a presentation on her process for mounting these gorgeous Siberian tigers from the zoo. We will also get insights from the zookeepers who raised them, getting a truly fascinating look at how the afterlives of animals can have a powerful impact on conservation.We will engage in the artistic, practical, and scientific aspects of taxidermy. Both Gina and Divya will be able to answer questions about taxidermy, and how the arts and sciences can harmonize to further our shared goal, conservation. Please note - The initial steps of taxidermy preparation involve revealing the inner anatomy of a specimen. Guests who may be sensitive to this are kindly asked to take this into consideration. All specimens used are legally and sustainably sourced - these tigers were mounted for a permitted educational facility, and were once beloved zoo residents. ABOUT THE HOSTS

Gina is a sculptor and taxidermist at the Seoul Zoo in SouthKorea. She creates taxidermy with zoo animals (that have died from natural causes) so that they can be used for exhibition, education, and scientific research. She carves her own custom mammal forms in dynamic postures. Her work combines anatomic accuracy and a unique aesthetic sense, as she has an artistic background. These elements combined lead to stunning portrayals of animals. In 2020, she taxidermied two Siberian tigers running in the snow (this is the cover image for our event, and you can see more on her <a href="https://www.instagram.com/ginayoon_portfolio/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Instagram</a>!). Gina was born in California, and lived most of her life in South Korea. A unique combination of science and style, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/gotham_taxidermy/?hl=en" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Divya Anantharaman</a> is New York City's premiere <a href="https://gothamtaxidermy.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">taxidermist</a> . An award winning licensed professional preserving birds and small mammals with honor and compassion for clients ranging from museums, designers, gallerists, and collectors. Her work seeks to combine the demonstrative aspect of scientific presentation with the symbolic, introspective nature of art, using taxidermy to engage diverse audiences with conservation. In addition to running her own business, she works at the esteemed studio of George Dante, which specializes in museum taxidermy and historic conservation. She was awarded 2019 Best of Category Professional Division for both Birds and Mammals at the New England Taxidermy Championships, won honors in the Professional division at the 2017 World Taxidermy Championships, and is the coauthor of the book "<a href="https://bookshop.org/books/stuffed-animals-a-modern-guide-to-taxidermy/9781581573329?aid=9119" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Stuffed Animals: A Modern Guide to Taxidermy</a>." She is passionately curious about the untapped potential of taxidermy.
