La Trienal Talks – CRAFT

El Museo del Barrio, New York's leading Latino cultural institution welcomes visitors of all backgrounds to discover the artistic landscape of Latino, Caribbean, and Latin American cultures. Their richness is represented in El Museo's wide-ranging collections and critically acclaimed exhibitions, complemented by film, literary, visual and performing arts series, cultural celebrations, and educational programs.

Join Justin Favela, Yvette Mayorga, and Dionis Ortiz for the first in a series of conversations that bring together artists from ESTAMOS BIEN—LA TRIENAL. Moderated by Curator Susanna V. Temkin, the artists will discuss how their practices engage, subvert, and build upon legacies of craft, decorative arts, and other vernacular languages. Addressing Mayorga&#x27;s pasteleria-influenced paintings, Favela&#x27;s piñata murals, and Ortiz&#x27;s large-scale sculptural installations repurposing flooring materials, the conversation will address notions of labor, gender, and domesticity in their works on view at El Museo. FREE ADMISSION  (Registration closes at 5:00 PM on April 28. Instructions to log on will be sent via email to registrants prior to the event.)This program is a part of El Museo en Tu Casa, our new bilingual digital initiative encouraging visitors to explore and learn about Latino art and culture.
