Global Challenge project-based learning: exploring access and capacity

Global Challenge is a project-based internationalization@home initiative that inspires students to later participate in outbound mobility.

Global Challenge is an in-class, international experiential learning initiative where students participate virtually with organizations in Vietnam through a partnership with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Ho Chi Minh City. Students are provided with cultural training throughout the term and present their projects to Vietnamese stakeholders or reflect on presentations given by Vietnamese organizations, depending on how the Global Challenge is organized. For this project, we targeted classes with a higher number of underrepresented students such as low-income, indigenous, and students with a disability.Survey responses from students provide strong evidence that that an international experience in the Canadian classroom is highly valuable and inspires students to strongly consider an outbound mobiity experience that they didn&#x27;t consider before.This presentation will discuss the overall vision for a Global Challenge framework: from internationalization@home to study abroad as well as showcase the &#x27;challenge&#x27;s students completed in the pilot project.
