CHALLENGE IS TRANSPARENCY - Rethinking corneal surgery

Dear colleagues, dear friends of ophthalmology,ESVO is happy to announce new webinar issue: CHALLENGE IS TRANSPARENCY - Rethinking corneal surgerySince a few years ago, we were happy operating an eye with a conjunctival graft and “repairing” an eye, sometimes with big granulation tissues, dense opacities, or scars, or big amounts of pigmented tissues, thinking we hadn’t lost the eye. But TRANSPARENCY IS THE CHALLENGE. We have to change our corneal protocols!Starting from the histological structure of the cornea and the biomaterials available in the market, we will review the different surgical techniques described and their uses.We will rethink corneal surgery depending on the affected area, the age of the animal, and its breed, or the possible systemic diseases that can affect it. This time we will talk to Eduardo Huguet Baudin, LV, LB, CLOVE Dipl.Veterinary ophthalmologist, Director of Oftalmovet (Valencia, Spain) , Professor in ENVT, UCM and CEU Universities (ophthalmology diplomas).<ul><li> As a director of Oftalmovet (Valencia, Spain), referral center in veterinary ophthalmology, is Eduard very active in sharing ophthalmology and founded the Oftálmica working group (with some colleagues in Spain), the REOVVA (European Network of Veterinary Ophthalmology and Animal Vision), and SEOVET (Spanish Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology). Ed collaborates since 2010 with several wildlife parks in Europe and abroad, and is also specialised in marine mammals cataract surgery.</li></ul><ul><li>Professor of the Veterinary Ophthalmology Diploma, at the Complutense University of Madrid, in l ’Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire of Toulouse, and in CEU Valencia, he has publicated in Veterinary Ophthalmology, in several reviews, a book and monographs. </li><li>Ed’s major interests are gonioscopy and ultrasounds, ocular surface and lens surgery.</li></ul>Looking forward to “seeing” all of you on June , 10 2021Take care and stay safe Best regards Jiri Beranek and ESVO board
