Join us as we celebrate Susan Schroeder&#x27;s 50th Birthday Fundraiser to support <a href="https://www.barhii.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BARHII (Bay Area Regional Health Inequities Initiative)</a>. BARHII is committed to advancing equity—health equity, economic opportunity, racial justice—right here in the SF Bay Area. Susan&#x27;s personal health journey—brain surgery, breast cancer, heart and autoimmune issues—caused her to ask the question, &quot;How do people who aren&#x27;t as fortunate as I am, don&#x27;t have the privileges that I have, navigate a health crisis like this?&quot; And then, Susan found BARHII. In talking with BARHII Executive Director, Melissa Jones, Susan learned more about the truths around life expectancy and how it can vary GREATLY right here in the SF Bay Area. Through programs, services, work at the policy level, and partnership with eleven Bay Area Public Health Departments, BARHII&#x27;s work focuses on population level solutions and shifting unjust systems. And they rely on the support of private donations like this fundraiser to do this important work to help others! In a recent Twitter thread, Susan replied to Dr. Ashira Blazer, MD saying, &quot;The disparities and inequalities in healthcare are vast, real, and life-threatening. There&#x27;s a good chance I wouldn&#x27;t be alive right now if it wasn&#x27;t for my privilege, demands, and access to quality healthcare. Everyone deserves it.&quot; Susan is SF Bay Area born and raised. Her heart lives in this region and she&#x27;s SO excited to CELEBRATE another precious birthday with each of you! Let&#x27;s DANCE TOGETHER because we can!!
